We made our tray/platter out of a beautiful slab of Reclaimed Walnut with pronounced and colorful grains.
A lighter colored oak shaped "bow tie" was used to stabilize a small crack that was present in the slab. Not only is this method aesthetically pleasing it will also prevent the crack from getting any wider.
A round finger hole was drilled into the board to make handling a breeze. Plus, when not in use, you can easily hang it on a wall as a piece of natural art.
One slightly curved edge contrasts visually against the three other edges that are straight and precise.
The board was sanded smooth, then routered to soften the edges and sealed with several coats of a food safe poly to protect it from moisture.

Clean up is simple. Simply wipe up spills or debris with a damp cloth. Never immerse in water.

Not recommended for use as a cutting board.

Natural grains and characteristics are what make this piece unique and should not be considered a defect.
